I love Continental and I've run the General GMax-03 on my Audi and my SHO! *HOWEVER.....last year my General's needed to be replaced on my SHO so I went with the Conti DWS06 and I only got 12,000 miles out of them and they were completely worn out!!! I don't know if somehow I got FOUR duds but the tires sucked from day 1! On the drive home from the tire shop they felt like the car was "floating," and not planted to the road at all! Long story, short - luckily the warranty gave me about $700 in credit! So Discount Tire said I really need to use their exclusive tire made my Continental which is the "Control Sport" - made for heavier sport sedans. So far I love them.
Lastly, I've never used a dedicated "Winter," Tire and I live in Nebraska which gets some wicked cold, snow, and ice! I've never had a problem in my Audi or my SHO with just an AS tire from Continental.

I was reading that Conti bought General and the Gmax-As 05 is there cheaper version of the Conti DWS-06. Made of same rubber compound, similar working tread pattern and silica content. Gmax 2 lbs lighter. So maybe it a good choice for those who desire a less expensive alternative to the Conti DWS 06. I think the Gmax had 40 or 50,00 mile warranty......

For those who are running the General G-max AS05, would you recommend them for daily use on a 2015 Ford Fusion FWD located in South Eastern WI?
Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

The DWS06 is the only All Season tire I would run comfortably through a winter, but it is no substitute for proper winter rubber. There is a clear difference between getting by just fine and feeling unstoppable.

Keep in mind, DWS 06s (like its predecessor) have notoriously soft sidewalls, which would explain some of the odd handling characteristics described above considering the weight of this car. FWIW, I was able to negate it a good bit on my Audi by running 40 PSI on all four corners, but that was a much lighter car than the SHO.

I am told that Blizzaks are great for the first half of the treadlife, then their characteristics change to "normal" snow tires, I guess that means the phenom grip is gone.
Yup I was told the same. Soft compound and they wear fast making them an all season tire after 50% I go with either Hankooks or Yokahama
