I have finished the valve shims on the front cylinder bank, but the rear is being a real pain. I can't get the tool in just the right spot to hold down the bucket without holding the shim down as well. I have tried using a mirror but that didn't seem to help. Any suggestions?

Yep, take a few Motrin as a pre-emptive strike, get some ice packs for your lower back, lean over further, get some more light. I've found it helps to put the bucket holding tool in close to the cam bearing tower, and when I'm working the backside, I tie a string to the bucket holding tool, because it can go down the oil return holes to the oil pan. Ask me how I know...
