I was going to put the tensioner against the belt yesterday. I must have put to much force on it and the tensioner spun around and came off of the sping behind it. Now that I've taken everything back off including the tensioner, I cant get the spring to hold and tension. Plus the tensioner doesn't seem to spin as many times as it used to. Has this happened to any one else? I need to know how to get this damn thing back together.

Does the perpendicular part go closest to the block? And if so does it go before or after the stud on the block?

Looking at the shophoneixproject, pics may be an unrealistic request. A good description would be good.

if your on the pass. side looking at the tensioner, there will be a 90 degree hook which hooks up to the tensioner closer to the fender, w/the open end facing the firewall, then the other side of the spring will go to the left of the rod(closer to the firewall), sticking out of the block if you install the spring back that way and it still doesn't tension, then i would suggest looking for another spring???....mine spun off today and i had to take it all apart and re-install the damn spring...so good luck and let me know....HOPE this helps, let me know if you need more description, im pretty bad at giving descriptions!!!

Okay, here's some pictures of how I put the tensioner on the car.

I've put the 90 degree part to the right of the rod on the block, so it pushes up against it, but it just doesn't seem right.

NO my friend, the perpindicular part goes to the left of the stud sticking out of the block, as in CLOSEST to the firewall, that way when you loosen the tensioner, i.e. turn it clockwise, the spring starts to tension, then after you release the tensioner onto the timing belt it tightens everything up, and i gave it a lil extra "tighten" after releasing the tension "just to make sure" it was tight enough!!! Hope that helps ya better..:thumb:
