I'm get a ticking sound , about one tick per second, for my dash. It's very quiet but you can hear it with the radio off. It will come and go as you drive and lasts about 10 or 15 seconds ever 3 or 4 minutes. Any ideas? My warranty is running out soon so I would like to get future problems fixed now.

Thanks for your input.

Any problems with HVAC? on the Gen 1/2's, usually the blend door actuator that caused this problem, eventually building up to a fullblown continuous ticking and loss of ETAC control.

I've read that the current Gen still has blend door actuator issues. Too bad since that has been a typical issue across the Ford lines for MANY years now. It seems they could have come up with a better method/solution by now. :(

If it comes from vibration when driving, check the vents, they seem to sometimes make a ticky plastic-on-plastic sound, my far left driver's one was making a noise that went away when you pushed on it.

I had a 1989 SHO with the blend door problem, it was much louder and from the middle of the dash but with the duel climate controls on the newer cars it may be located on the left side of the steering wheel. It's much quieter than my old car but the sequence of the ticking is the same.

Mine had the same problem. Must be very common as when I took it in the dealer knew what it was, what part number, and how long to fix without looking anything up.

Just had mine done on Wed. It was the blend door actuator. In addition to the ticking the AC system wasn't working properly. Even though the Dual AC was not engaged I had heat coming from the right two registers and cold coming from the left two registers. I could not adjust this. Dealer took care of it and it was covered under the extended Ford warranty including the rental/loaner car.
