My 3.0 recently developed an intermittent ticking noise that sounds like its coming from the upper part of the drivers side engine. Its only noticeable under moderate to heavy acceleration.

Valves? 60K was done at 120K, She's got 171K on her now. Original everything, including rod bearings. Will look at changing those out in the next few months.

Thoughts? :squint:

Mine is actually the reverse. It is more apparent at full throttle. At idle, you really can't hear it. Still think your right though...

Cam tensioner, possibly. Make sure it's actually coming from the top end though, bearings can "echo" up through the block and sound like top end noise as well.

I popped the hood and revved it up to try and isolate the sound. Funny thing is... I really can't hear the ticking noise when it's in neutral. She purrs like a kitten. I only hear it when I get on the gas while driving.
