Throttle Cable (?) above transmission - 2015 Non PP

Hey All,

I posted this picture on another thread but never got any feedback one way or another so I figured I’d give it its own thread.

Anyone know what this is and if the gray plastic pieces need to be connected? They seem like they would fit into each other but I don’t want to move anything that might not need to be moved.

Transmission shift cable linkage. Have someone shift gears and watch it.

Do you know if it’s fine to have that separation that mine has in the second picture or do I need to try and reconnect those pieces?
