i was sitting in my 97 waiting to go to class and the car was idling. i was sitting for maybe 10 minutes then the car jumped to 2600 rpms weird part is my foot was no where near the gas pedal so i couldve pressed it accidently. after it hit 2600 it then dropped to 1900 went back up died. so i turned the ignition off and let it sit for 5 minutes. when i turned the car back on the clock said 1200, it couldnt have been the battery because i just replaced it 2 weeks ago.

anyone run into this?

thanks

Have the alternator bench tested and the batt, free @ advance auto

you really think it could be ether of these im have no clue on that.. but i was thinking maybe one of the wires from the alt to the fuse block to the battery could be shorting out and so on...

now what leads me to think this is that my tbird sc had this prob but it happens when the motor mount breaks... and then the oil pan rubs the wires raw and they short...

good luck!
