Mine did that just a couple of times about 8 years ago as well and left me stranded, this was before the 60k, water pump, T-belt and and CPS replaced; never been a problem since, so probably CPS intermittantly going out.

CPS sucks when it decides to crap out in the middle of traffic downtown in a crowded city, ask me I know LOL Maybe I should listen to the guy that yelled at me "should've bought a chevy"

mine did that with the PO, she spent 1200 dollars replacing parts only to find out that the plug wells were filling with oil. they would fill up and the car would not start until the oil drained back out of them. i bought the car for $350 and did the top 60k (minus the valves) and it ran like a dream. i'd say check your plug wells for oil if it does it to you again. also get the 60k PDQ and make sure you do both top and front. don't make my mistake of just doing the top and saying i'll get around to the front.

To trip the inertia switch in the trunk, it needs a jolt of some kind. Give it a quick tap, you should hear a click as the ball inside is dislodged. Pushing down on the switch does nothing unless it's been tripped.

Okay thanks.. 2 days now.. decent amount of driving around and it still hasn't happened again. The one wire leading into the fuel pump **** switch had almost no insulation on one side for about 3-4 inches. I really think it was rubbing up against the wall and shorting out.

I'm off tomorrow (6 day work weeks during tax season) and I'm going to try to get the codes to pull.

It died again this morning. When I went to the fuel switch cut off I could hear a little ball rolling around freely inside it so I cut off the switch and spliced the 2 ends together. It ran fine for about 2-3 hours.

Now the fuel pump will not turn on at all. I'm not sure what's the matter. Any other ideas?

Man the PO on my car rigged a bunch of stuff. There was an aftermarket jumper going from a hot wire that didn't work to one that did to power the fuel pump. The jumper was bad.

Damn gremlins.. I shouldn't have fed them after midnight....

Yeah man! try to get all those wires sorted out. The po probably gave up with those wires!
