This is a little strange (regarding LMS tune)

I've had a tune from LMS since last summer. I love it and am glad to have gone with LMS for all of my mods. Last fall, I upgraded to a 3-bar sensor and requested an update for the tune. As you know, I posted a dyno result that was lower than my 2-bar tune. At the time, I chalked it up to the quirky tech performing the dyno test.

Funny thing is...I normally shift into sport when I want to get a quick jump off the line and use drive when I'm being cool. But a couple weeks ago, I did a really aggressive start from a light while still in drive. I felt like I had gobs of unleashed power that even sport mode doesn't give me. Repeated tests switching between sport and drive all yield the same result: huge amounts of boost while in drive and laggy starts in sport.

Is it possible the tunes were reversed?

I wouldn't think any tune is specific to a drive mode because if it were I'm sure they'd be letting us know that. And I've not heard of any tuner saying such.

Maybe some of the tuners could chime in.

OK.....I'm very glad you posted this! I thought I was going crazy - however, I do NOT have a tune - it's just a stock 2014 SHO with PP. I was testing my car on an isolated road by my house (I live on the outskirts of the city, never any traffic on this new road). Anyway I was testing dig starts in "S" and "D". I did one start in "S" mode and the car will shift by itself anyway, but once the car shifted into 3rd gear I moved the selector (still under WOT) from Sport to Drive and the power seemed to increase and felt the car pull MORE - it did NOT downshift or anything, just went from "S" in 3rd gear and pushed the selector lever to "D" and it pulled more! I don't get this at all !!

2010 checking in here. Though we older folks don't have the S option, I will test mine in M for your research. I'll report back tomorrow.

This is baffling. There is no good reason I can think of for the sport mode to be slower than drive on the 2013 and later cars. The sport mode should hold the gears longer, shift more firmly and lock out 6th gear. There should be no difference in engine power.

The 2010-2012s are different. The Manual mode is just that - manual. It will not upshift no matter what - it will just hit the rev limiter. It will downshift, however, to prevent lugging. The engine power is the same in both modes.

To my post above, I should add: The throttle mapping is different in sport mode. With the drive by wire system, sport mode allows slightly more throttle opening with less actual depression of the accelerator pedal. Full throttle should be the same either way, however. I find the throttle a little bit "jumpy" when in sport mode with my wife's 2014 and with other 2013+ models I have driven. Again, there should be no difference when WOT.

Our tuning affects all drive modes equally.

Have you reached out to us with this concern before? The WOT characteristics of drive vs sport mode are identical. I even reached out to the tuner for a double check on that info and he stated the same.
Please email us all of your info and experiences to info@livernoismotorsports so that I can have the tuner look at your tune files and see if you are running the latest version of tuning.

If you have any other concerns like this please, PLEASE contact me personally.

Thanks,

For some reason, I don't see any ***, but I'm on the mobile site. I don't know if that makes a difference, as I don't often check this site. I'll contact Anthony, though.

I had the same findings!!
Before I tuned my '13, there was a "tough" guy in a G37 coupe trying to play with the SHO. I dropped it into sport and 2nd gear to take off without shifting. Midway into 3rd I slid it into D and it pushed my head back!
After that I only use S to play around shifting myself.

Now after the tune from Unleashed i am shocked with the difference!

So, keep shifter in D unless you want to shift?

When at the drag strip, do we keep it in D or S?

Lastly, you guys with PP. Do you disable everything when at the track?

Yes, I disable the traction control and the electronic stability (ESC) but I'm leaving it in "D" for now on! I guess, "S" stands for Slow mode!
