I was trying to find some Lexol Vinylex yesterday from a local store and couldn't so I just bought a little bottle of Meguiar's "Natural Shine Vinyl & Rubber Protectant" since it was only $2.99 for a 10 oz bottle.

Want good stuff to clean and protect my interior non-leather surfaces. Don't want crappy ArmorAll side effects. Is the Meguiar's stuff any good? They also had Meguiar's "Professional Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner #40" but didn't want to spend the $9 unless I know it's better than lexol vinylex.

What's the skinny on products like these all you interior detailing connoisseurs? Should I just break down and order a bottle of Lexol Vinyex from Don Mallinson at DC Car Care? Or am I going to be ok with the cheap meguiar's stuff I bought?

edit: Oops, forgot to add that when I was cleaning my interior the other week I used a very weak solution of simple green in a spray bottle on the plastic. Cleaned things up nicely. Is that stuff bad to use on my plastic and vinyl?

I would advice against using cleaners like Simple Green on vinyl since it might fade the dye in the vinyl over time. I KNOW that all Meguiars products are first rate and that is all I use on my sho now. Their tire black and leather cleaner is absolutely first rate....

Here is my advise ......

If your gonna go with a cleaner/conditioner DON'T.

I use Lexol Vinyex on my Stang. I bought the 2 bottles. The cleaner and the conditioner. Cleaner/conditioners in one bottle don't work well.

I mean how can you clean something and condition it at the same time ??

Try this next time you clean your interior. (start at night)

1. Use a cleaner and scrub all the leather real good to get any and all dirt off.

2. With the leather clean, apply a nice coat of conditioner that you would use in the shower for your hair. Use a type that has no dyes in it. Let it sit on over night. Remove in the morning. Ahhhhhhhhh nice n' smooth and soft at the touch.

3. Apply a good contitioner that you can rub in to give it a good shine.

4. Enjoy the nice clean scent !!!

I think someone else from here has tried this before.

I've tried and used most of the non-professional products made by Meguiar's. They all work well for the price paid. The products in their professional series really do outperform others. Unfortunately, there's not a local retailer for that level of products. I've switched to the mail order products from Griot's Garage Yes, their prices are higher than other reputable brands, but I have found that a little of their product goes a long way! Their basic Starter Kit is a good value and has most of their products that's needed for cleaning on our SHOs. One other item that I've found to be great for our leather seats, is their Leather Rejuvenator

Also, don't let your spouse or significant other find out about these products! My supply is usually inside the house in the various cabinets vs. being in the garage where I leave them!

I didn't know that Lexol Vinylex came in two bottles. I thought there was just the one blue bottle. I already have their leather cleaner (orange bottle) and leather conditioner (brown bottle). Are you talking about using the orange bottle leather cleaner on your vinyl/plastic/rubber and then finishing up with the blue bottled Vinylex?

Another good place for leather conditioner is Leatherique.com . Great stuff, it turned my cardboard hard leather back into glove soft leather. Makes you want to drive *****. thumb

I'm going to be using leatherique when I redye my leather seats. Need to find a really nice rear seat first though. Or get my existing rear seat redone.

Ummmm, guys, I guess the title of the post didn't make it clear. I wasn't asking about leather products. Already got the lexol leather cleaner and conditioner. Maybe not the best, but a good minimum quality product to use. I was really only inquiring about Plastic/Vinyl/Rubber cleaners and conditioners. NOT leather, lol!

Stupid me, not making myself clear from the get go. jpshakeh

The Leatherique cleaners work well on vinyl, the oil is not really made for vinyl but it does seem to do somthing. I would go with the stuff from Griot's Garage for vinyl, they have some high quality stuff there.
