I'm considering going back to stock tune and 2bar sensor. I have and Im more than happy with my Livernois Tunes and equipment I purchased from them. But I'm thinking about any effects that running a performance tune on my engine/transmission will have in the long run. I'd like to keep my car as long as possible and I don't race. In anyone's opinion, do you think running a performance tune puts more stress on these engines?

I can't speak for the Ecoboost yet specifically, as I never tuned my wife's Flex, and we just picked up the new SHO yesterday. However, my experience with tuning other vehicles has been nothing but positive. Obviously these are complex machines, and as such failure can and will occur at any time. If as you say you don't race, and aren't abusing the vehicle, a mild tune shouldn't cause any more damage than a stock tune driven the same way.

I've tuned several gas and diesel turbocharged vehicles, some I've driven hard for as many as 300k miles while tuned. I've never had a failure that I could attribute to the tuning. I HAVE had failures I could attribute to my right foot. Transmissions, differentials, U-joints, turbochargers, drivelines etc. are all susceptible to the increased HP and Torque. Merely having the extra power does not cause the failures. Using them excessively or incorrectly will.

So were it my car, if you like how the car behaves with the tunes, just drive smart and leave them be. If you have other reasons to remove them then go for it. I wouldn't remove them just to try to improve reliability. That's more a matter of your driving habits.

I've been wondering about a compromise tune myself for a daily driver. My 13pp definitely has a different personality between D and S mode. I'd like to ratchet it up a notch but not too much as to effect the drivability. Figure I'll start with asthetics and move toward performance, possibly non evasive items like oil an vapor separator, exhaust/cai, and depending on the effect of the first move to a tune. Can Livernois effectively de-tune your kit without having to completely un do all the work you've done?

Is there additional stress on a modified tune vs stock tune. It's not even a debatable topic, yes there's more stress. The simple fact is a modified tune is making more power and that's going to add more stress (at full throttle). There really is no debating that simple fact. The debate comes in on if that stress provides any substantial or noticeable decrease in engine life.

I would say that if you drive normal on a modified tune there is no more additional stress on the engine vs driving normal on a stock tune. The reason is because the car isn't making full power and makes the same partial power on either tune.

LMS tuned here and I de-tune mine with my right foot. The shifting improvement alone makes the tune worth it and when I lay the pedal down, it's nice to get up and go. Recently went back to stock for some recall work and couldn't believe how long the shifts lagged before going to the next gear. Popped the tune back in and life was great again.

We have plenty of clients with 1xx,*** miles on their vehicles with no negative effects. The biggest thing you can do to prolong the life of your vehicle is religious
preventative maintenance!

I raced my '13 this year every Friday night from begin of April to end of Oct. NO issues at all, also I am very maintenance pickie. I've changed the PTU twice, 3rd time coming up, trans fluid once, rear diff once, plus oil changes at 3-4000 miles. I do understand where you are coming from as wanting to keep the car very long term. I plan on keeping my '13 from a long time, but as in saying that, theses are mechanical and electrical things, and as you know things break, where stock or tuned. If you go back to 2bat, ask Anthony the V8 89 tune, you get some power increase and maybe some piece of mind too.

Also Livernois tuned too.

Whoooo just joined the forum and I'm sitting in my office and can't stop reading every single thread. Haven't accomplished anything else today. Just purchased a 13' PP, couldn't be anymore pumped! I was T-boned in my CTS and totaled it out this past summer, this will be my first real project and i plan on driving this bad boy for awhile. Where should i start with upgrades? Don't plan on racing via track but I'd like to smoke any and all of my friends/co-workers german POSs,... Thoughts?

Welcome to the community, sorry to hear about your CTS! First thought, make your own intro thread here
http://shoforum.com/index.php?forums/introduce-yourself.58/

Maintenance first. Also check for any outstanding recalls
https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/maintenance/recalls.html

Particular attention should be paid to the 2 fuel pump/control module and 1 halfshaft related recalls.

Once those are out of the way, tune + 3bar + TStat would give you a pretty potent start in the modding process.
