I'm looking at a used 2010 Taurus SHO - tuxedo black exterior, believe it has the 402B option package. It DEFINITELY has :

- sunroof
- heated/AC seats
- sony stereo
- rear sunshade.

I know the first three of above are 401b, but I think the last one pushes it into 402b, right?

It also has the navigation and performance package - although I was surprised to find a spare (NOT full-size) in the trunk - is this normal?

Curiously, I noticed on the Ford website that I can't seem to add the 402B package (with the rear sunshade) AND the performance package. I'm guessing these two are mutually exclusive? The car DEFINITELY has the 20" wheels AND the rear sunshade - I'm guessing either the 20" wheels might of been added without performance package or the sunshade was added without 402b? Don't know if it has BLIS as I test drove it at night and only had 15-20 minutes to check it out.

Manufacture date is 1/2010 and the car has 35k miles (lots of milage in a year - first owner was a outside sales rep of some type). Has a pulldown strap in the trunk - may be a "Job 2" car from what I've read on here. Looks to be pretty clean, and is a "certified pre-owned" at a Ford dealer with the 6yr/100k powertrain warranty - they're asking $30k.

Does this sound like a fair price?

Any tips on items to look at for a used SHO?

$30k is on the high side. I would see if you can get it down a few thousand.

Hmmm...you couldn't get the rear shade and the performance package. You had to het the 402a with the PP. Also the PP cars don't come with a spare.

Price seems a little steep for 35000 miles

Get the Vin number and go to this web site: http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FAHP2KT0AG101149

Replace the vin number in the above web address with yours. It will bring up a copy of the window sticker.

Thanks! This link was exactly what I was looking for!

Turns out it DOES have the 402B, does not have the performance package, but the original owner optioned the "20" 5-SPK LUSTER NKL ALUM WHL" package, which explains the confusion over the performance package, and the spare tire (wonder if it'll actually FIT with the other wheels being 20" - gotta check that next time I look at the car).

Anyone know ballpark pricing for the "bumper-to-bumper" extended warranty to 100k? Might try to get that added as part of negotiations.

You can get 20" wheels alone as an option, not just included with the performance package. The rear sunshade and nav systems makes it sound like a 402B package. I think the 40XB replaced the 40XA in 10/10.

You should get to flmowner.com or similar, just need your vin and you can price a warranty. There's other sites too. I told dealer about this when I bought my car and they just confessed I should buy the warranty online, they said they couldn't come within $500 of the price for whatever reason. I didn't care to argue, just bought it online like they said. But that will give you a starting point to negotiate. I agree 30k for so many miles is slightly high, probably not totally terrible but I am pretty cheap and my nose says there must be room to move a little on that deal.

I recently purchased the extended warranty for the 5yr/100k and I think it was right around $1200. FYI if you purchase it after the fact through flmowner.com you can get it interest free where at the dealer they'll just roll it into your loan.

"Dbonds" from Texas?? Would you happen to be Dave Bonds from the SHOtimes days??

Yes, after 7-ish years of being a noSHO, I'm back.

True story - as I was doing the trade-in on my 2004 Infiniti G35 6MT (I bought it new to replace my 1995 SHO), I noticed the original title date on that car was Feb 2, 2004. Apparently I've been struck by some weird automotive variant of the 7 year itch as last night I bought the Tuxedo Black 2010 SHO that started this thread.

Didn't get home from the dealer until 10:45 or so, but slept with a smile on my face. :)

Best pricing I've seen is here:
http://www.zeiglerfordesp.com

Have not pulled the trigger yet but they seem to have the best pricing.

Wow - awesome site for ESP warranties! My dealers original asking price for a 7yr/100k PremiumCare ESP was $2150 - dropped to $1950 since Feb was apparently "Truck month".

I got a 6yr/100k PremiumCare via Ziegler for $1075 - the fact that the 2010 SHO I bought was "certified preowned" and already had the 7yr/100k powertrain extended warranty helped reduce the price some.

My quote from Zeigler was 1280 with a 100 deductible for the PremiumCare without rental.

flmowners gave the quote of $2135 for the same plan (5yr/100k)

Look closer at the ESP plans - I think they all include rentals, but ONLY if car is "kept overnight for repairs" and they only cover to $30/day or so. The rental options they offer are first day rental and "enhanced" rental coverage, both of which pay up to $75/day for a car.

Too bad they likely don't rent SHOs. :)

flmowners = Ford's official site. So they are going to be MSRP as to not upset the dealers.

Good idea, how would you like the idea if you were a business and your supplier was undercutting your price to your customers?

FWIW, I just paid $31,500 for a fully loaded 2010 with 18K miles. 402A, 20" wheels, Nav, ACC, MCS. 18 months left on bumper to bumper coverage.

When searching for cars, check your Carfax, mine was a one owner Ford "program" vehicle.
