undefinedHey all. Just had another problem rear its ugly head with my car a few days ago. i searched and found some similar threads, but nothing really dealing specifically with my problem so here goes. I was on the on ramp the other day waiting to go, Bess, my car was having a rather good day, she was feeling rather saucy, I could just tell she wanted to run. So I was in the outside turn lane on the on ramp. The light turned and I started to go, I noticed that when my foot was completely off the clutch pedal it still felt like my clutch was only halfway disengaged. RPMs went up, engine noise increased, not much go though. Then it seemed to fall into place and everything was fine. So i get on the highway in third gear and punch it to move into the passing lane. I was watching my tach and was like, holy cow, she really wants to run today. The tach needle flipped up so qucikly she might have be an F1 car. Then I got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, while the tach was going nuts, the car didnt gain any speed. So I backed off and drove very consevatiavly the rest of the day. Since then I have had to problem with the clutch disengaging when i start from a dead stop. Last night on the freeway I did a little research to be able to post here today. I was in third gear, and like 60 mph, and 3500 rpms. I hit the gas and the tach would fly up to 5500 rpm, with no speed gain. it would then fall quickly back to the 3500 level.

I am far from an expert on anything auto related, but my quess would be a slipping clutch. Im looking for other more experienced opinions and some fix it options if there are any. Can I do anything to the clutch short of replacement. The clutch is not even two years old yet. I would really appreciate any input. Thanks guys

Sounds very much like a bad disc to me.

Some clutches last 100k+ miles, others don't.

MOST of it depends on how you drive, and it sounds like you're rough on them.

Sorry to hear it- although you get to spend some quality time  with the SHO, changing a clutch costs some $$$..
