I got everything BUT the flywheel off... I just turn the engine no matter what I do.. I cann belive I had no problems till now

any hints or thoughts on how to make this easier?

You mean how to get the flywheel off? I've never done it on a SHO but don't you wedge something to keep the flywheel from turning and use a good sized wratchet to remove it? Make sure you mark the crank and the flywheel to realign where it came off.

I wish it were that easy... but since it is a MTX there are no holes in the flywheel to wedge it still maybe after food and a break I will get it off or become more creative

Sorry haven't been in there yet. I think marking the crank and the flywheel still applies. Maybe you're going to need an air wratchet to get it?

Ford makes a little gizmo that goes into a hole at about the 11:00 position on the block with a little tooth to lock the flywheel in position. It's a cheap (~$15 if I recall) tool that is universal to most Fords.

The only other thing I can think to try would be to install a harmonic balancer puller on the crank pulley, and then put a breaker bar or pipe in between the two bolts and rest it against the subframe to prevent the crank from turning when you are removing the flywheel bolts.

FWIW, if you decide to buy one, it's called a "Flywheel Holding Tool" and the P/N is T74P-6375-A. OTC probably has an equivalent part even cheaper than Ford.

Thanks guys.. I figured out a nice redneck way to do it ( I figured since I am in TX now it is okay)

I saw a short 12 inch piece of chain an got an idea... I put on one of the pressure plate bolts and attatched the chain to one of the tranny bolt holes in the block. When I tried that and that first bolt broke through I was SO happy... but mad that I spent 3-4 hours on just the flywheel

but now I know there is a tool for it thumbs_u
