I have a 95 atx and I was wondering if it's at all probable that the timing belt can be causing some power loss? To my knowledge the belt has 105k on it. Unfortunately due to work I'm unable to change it right now. I have changed the plugs, wires, and adj. ALL of the valves. So my ? for the day is can a timing belt w/ 105k on it be robbing me of some power?? :confused:

One positive thing about the Automatics is the fact that the timing belt has a self tensioner & as the belt stretches the tension compensates. I'd get it changed when you get the chance but to the best of my knowledge it shouldn't be robbing any power. wink

Hey I'll let you know here in a couple of weeks. I'm currently gathering all the parts to do my 60/120/140K and although my car seems to have plenty of power and runns stong I have nothing to compare it to.

The belt has stretched a small amount over that many miles and has resulted in less than optimal valve timing. A new belt will restore the camshafts to the correct timing and return some power and responsiveness. As to how much power, that, I couldn't tell you.
