It does not have plastic front fenders. That designation is probably for something else related to the fender. I know for a fact based on experience the fenders are metal and checked a build sheet for one that I know has metal fenders and it has the same designation.

Also please refer to it by its proper model. It is a Ford Police Interceptor Sedan not a Police Taurus.

I understand everyone's passion for these cars, but as someone who has been a cop for over 30 years and whose agency has a large number of P.I. and non-P.I. sedans in service (over 600), I can tell you that most cops just call it a Taurus.

Thanks for your service and putting your life on the line daily. Also for showing the rest of the civilian population what the proper term is. Me thinks those ego boosters just want to sound cooler than they are. Lol

I'm just thinking having one with the police gears and Ecoboost would be a BLAST!!!

There is a local guy with one and even with all the extra weight from the reinforced doors etc.... it ran a 13.6 bone stock.

Does anyone know if that would be a relatively easy swap?
Would it make much difference vs the PP 3.16 ratio?

I think some of that "extra weight" is offset by the lack of amenities... I'm not 100% sure but so far the only curb weight info I could find was here:

http://www.autobytel.com/ford/sedan-police-interceptor/2015/specifications/

And it states that curb weight is 4136lbs. *** Does not state which engine or whether that's with FWD or AWD ***

Can anyone confirm this info?

I know our local police Taurus vehicles are standard V6 FWD vehicles. For some reason they only gave the sheriff department the turbo V6 models. So there's a possibility that weight is for one of the non-turbo cars.

From my understanding the default Taurus is NA AWD, they actually have to pay extra to make them FWD.

Not totally correct. I am not sure about interceptor models but for commercial Taurus models the drive train is one of the following.

SE.....FWD only........no AWD option.
SEL/Limited........FWD standard. AWD optional.
SHO........AWD ONLY. ........NO FWD option.

Its not extra... there is actually a savings but you must specify it as AWD is "Standard"

Who needs an interceptor to look like a cop... I have a black 13, I have had cops going the other direction waving to me.. Lol..all the time on the highway people in the left lane will change lanes quick when I get behind them. Then when I pass them they are looking to see if I was a cop when I pass.

Same thing here!

It is a nice bonus having basically your own lane on the highway:D
