About 2weeks ago me and Nick(slickn56) finished my MTX install with a few mods when reassembling this 60K-70K MTX I had gotten from Beth(bizzy) with new blockings rings and inspected with ok sychro's etc.

I installed a Fibertuff 9puck clutch, new insert for my AL flywheel, SHONut EXTREME F&R motor mounts, GM Sychromesh, SHONut ceramic TOB, and my #16 of 20 SHOrt Shifter.

I had found out later that it grinded a bit when cold because I used sythentic to break in my new blocking rings, then from there I flushed out my MTX with the $10/qt stuff and put in stock ATF, it did improve a little but now with the new clutch with about 250miles on it and under 4K driving it grinds with any type of 1-2sec shifts from 1-2-3gears.

Sometimes when starting it in the morning and I go through all the gears parked and in neutral it'll grind even 3rd gear while I hold the clutch pedal down and not a slight grind like a bad forced grind. I have no clue what could be causing my grinding now??

The only possibilty I see it being is when I blew my previous tranny I somehow slightly bent the rod shifter linkage or did not cut out the unibody with a square enough cut which is causing my newly installed SHOrt shifter to shift at an angle and in turn making my linkage a bit crooked?(<--just guessing there  )

The way I installed the SHOrt shifter was with a tight not so square hole which I basically pulled hard into place from above in the cabin so I couldve forced into the hole I cut a bit crooked or at an angle.

Any suggestions guys? Could the clutch not be releasing fully? Because I trust Beth and I doubt she would send me a bum bad sychro tranny but with all of these grinding problems I have no other choice but to point at the sychros. One more thing when I went to ATF it did help with not grinding as much in neutral but even warmed up i'll get it with 1-2sec shifts only slow 3-5sec shifts will stop any grinding, I can only imagine once the clutch is broken in how much more it'll grind at 6-7K shifts.

I doubt the synthetic ATF would cause your grinding, I've only used syn since my rebuild with no break in problems. The new blocking rings did cure my 2nd gear grind in extreme cold.

Same here, except I did use regular ATF for the first few hundred miles. Then switched to Mobil1 Syn. Sorry, no help. frown

Well, for starters your clutch could not be fully releasing which could be your primary problem. If I am reading your post right you said that the neurtral to 3rd shift with the clutch in it grinded. In that instance the tranny shouldn't be spinning, if it is your clutch is not fully releasing-hence the grind. My .02
