for the 44k base msrp you could almost get a volvo xc90 V8 on the same platform (yamaha wooooo!) @ 47k. but unless you got the turbos off a noble m600 it'll never run 12s like the flex could lol

We've had the ecoboost flex at our dealership for quite some time now. I think they have slightly less hp than the SHO (i believe its 355hp as opposed to 365hp, nothing too significant).

They are pretty nice rides. It really goes for something that size lol

I drove the Flex Ecoboost at my local dealer months ago before the SHO even got here to my dealer. The salesman told me to drive it because the sales manager would not allow anyone to drive the new SHO, so at least I could "FEEL THE POWER" lol I think they are pretty sweet funky looking. Sure it's a love-it-or-hate-it design... I for one LOVE it!

Same thing happened to me before they finally allowed me to drive a SHO. I like the styling a lot too, but from inside, it makes me feel very small, since Abe Lincoln would have no problem wearing his top hat inside it!

IIRC the Flex EB starts at a tick just under $40k too, not $44k. It's actually not much more than a SHO and you can also haul 6 people along with you or maybe a small destroyer with the cargo capacity it has. Even the the 1st row passenger seat folds flat. It also has a tow capacity of 3500lbs or 4000lbs, I can't remember exactly, with the tow package (which is essentially stiffer rear springs and a trans cooler, so why wouldn't you get it anyways?). The SHO is only rated for 1500lbs for comparison.

I live in the city that makes the flex/edge/mkx......and at our dealership we heard rumblings that Ford is currently working on trying to make an ecoboost edge. The problem they are facing is there isnt the required space in the engine compartment.

I do know that Ford has a few ecoboost engines. One is a 4cyl that people are hoping they will put into the fiesta. We only get the fiesta in spring of 2010, i assume any ecooboost fiestas (if they decide on that) would only show up a yr or two after the original N. American launch of the new vehicle.

the ECOboost (why not stick with twinforce, liked that so much better) cars are selling much better then ford thought they would so i wouldn't be suprize to see the eco engine to move to other 3.5l capable cars like the edge and mkx

Anyone heard anything about Ford putting it in a ligher 2 door with a sport orientation as yet? I would think that would be a natural.

pax, smn

The Fusion Sport will probably get the 2.0L GTDI engine when it comes out. The 3.5L probably had fitment issues in the Edge and the MKX. Like you said, seems like a much better match in those than the Flex. I would imagine the 1.0L GTDI engine will go into the Focus and the Fiesta performance models.

Marketing--EcoBoost is more marketable than TwinForce in today's climate (no pun intended). Sucks, though--I agree that TwinForce was a better name.
