The only thing I would add to the list is new end links front & rear. Josh at SHONUT sells some Windstar-spec end links that work on the front. Mikey @ Midwest SHO sells a few different types of performance-oriented rear end links, as well. Otherwise, head to AutoZone and get some Moog end links. Rears are ~$12 bucks apiece. When I had to get some front end links in a pinch, I got the AutoZone ones, but they only carry the plastic type, which IMO aren't nearly as good as the steel or aluminum end links.

What are those for? Can they be reused or are they typically rusted?

Thanks,
Kevin

The pinch bolts are used to keep the lower control arm ball joint connected to the knuckle. Ford does recommend that they only be used once. You definitely won't want this item to fail so replacing with new bolts/nuts is a good, safe idea. Yes, they are exposed to the road grime and can often times be rusty.

fricker66,

Thanks for the info. I will make sure that I order those. How many do I need? Is it just one set or one set per side? How much are these usually? I did not see them at Rock Auto so I assume the dealer or Ford Parts Network will be helpful.

Also I do not have a 5% discount coupon. Is there a way to get one or is it a code that more than 1 person can use? If so I would appreciate you sending it to me in a PM. I will place my order their today.

Thanks again..the suspension part of the SHO is new to me. (But I can do a mean 60K valve adjustment :) )

There is 1 bolt/nut per side. 2 bolts and 2 nuts are required for the work you will be doing. I ordered mine through SHONut when doing the recent clutch replacement.

As for the rockauto discount, I'm not finding one for January. Post this on the open forums and see if any other members have one. These codes are good for more than just one person/one use.

Keep us posted on your work.

FWIW, the shipping charge on the Moog springs from Rockauto will **** you because of the weight of them. Check with your local NAPA store, then compare their price plus any sales tax to RA's plus shipping. You might find that the local purchase is cheaper. I bought about $550 worth of stuff late in November that included a pair of springs, a pair of struts, two F150 front rotors, and another box of belts, gaskets and other small stuff and the sipping charge was over $50.00

BTW 93redATX, AutoZone does not carry Moog parts, they carry TRWs and others from the same family (Dana, Perfect Circle, etc). The $12 rear Moogs are available from O'Reilly's under their private label. I have reached the conclusion that the front ones from AutoZone are crap, as my second set is already making noise. Both sets lasted a year! I'll be ordering the Moogs!

khiser001: If you are only replacing the struts, springs, and mounts, you do not have to take the LCA ball joint out of the stud and will not need the bolts and nuts for that part. You wiil, of course, need to disassemble the Strut assys to reuse the bellows, upper sping seat, and the lower insulating pad so be sure you have the proper tools. FWIW, You might want to consider the Moog TPR bushings from RA. They will cost less and run quieter than will the ES polys.

I am not sure why everyone thinks the shipping is so high with Rock Auto. The springs were over $30 cheaper than buying them locally or online and the shipping for the following items was only $14.85:

1 set Front Moog Springs
1 set Rear Moog Springs
1 Set Rear Mounts

To me that is not bad at all.

Thanks for the correction, Steve. Now that I think about it, they were the TRW/Federal Mogul parts. In any event, I haven't had a problem with the parts; they are much better than stock.
