Temperature problem

Tonight while driving home my temperature gague kept going up to the N on normal, then back down to the L on normal. This isn't NORMAL, whats wrong?

Sounds like your thermostat is sticking or your coolant is very low.

Yes it sure sounds like air in the system. Common problem if the cooling system can't hold pressure for some reason. Check your pressure cap or just replace it.
