if anyone can figure this one out i would like to know this is a tough one

the last 4 years of the mtx 93 sho has been getting warmer during the summer the gauge would run bettween m and a and it has been climbing this year it was scarry the gauge reads above n and has climbed to allmost the red line around town air temp 80 deg on the freeway it would be on the o

i checked the temp off live data with a scanner and the temp would be 207-215 and the fan would kick on

i have replaced every thing
radator (ford) tremastat (ford) waterpump (ford) the gauge sending unit (napa) and ECT (napa) and still the same problem
and engine performance is deterated after the r

now have checked temps with an inferred temp gun with laser guide the termastate tube is 167 the housing is 170
temps on the both sending units is the same 165-174

i belive that it may be a faulty wire or some other device but at this point i am lost i will take any advice please
thanks

Did you use teflon tape on the gauge temperature sender? You want to leave a couple exposed threads on them.

I'm a little surprised the car runs that cool (170 deg.) - the Ford thermostat should be a 192 degree model.

I'm going to ask the elementary question - 50/50 coolant?

It sounds to me like the car is running fine and the gauge temp sender circuit is not working correctly.

Coolant mixture has little to do with the actual operating temp.

Sounds like that IR thermometer needs calibration/verification.

That is working as it should.

The temp getting that high sounds like a clogged radiator. How often has the coolant been changed and the system flushed out over the years?
