Two words about this product (Specially if your an ATX driver) : MUST HAVE!!! thumbs_u thumbs_u

I had to wait a couple of weeks for my LPM to arrive (Ted had ran out of LPM's when I ordered mine, but was quick on shipping mine out once he had received a batch in stock to program).

Ted's LPM came with very easy to read
instructions which made it VERY easy to install and make ready for testing...

The first (and biggest) thing I have noticed about the LPM is how Ted has made the shifts so much nicer for us ATX drivers (specially the 1-2 shift under full throttle, one word for it : AWESOME!), this thing shifts like a performance car now! Very fast and firm shifts, and the overall tranny performance now seems to be more reactive to downshifts, etc. WAY better than my tranny use to be (Lazy and Non-responsive).

I've also noticed a bit of lower end pickup also (Between 2000-3500rpms partial throttle on the expressway, normal cruising, etc), which is a nice added touch because I dont really like to have the ATX downshift and run at 3500-4500rpms all the time if I want to just pass a truck on the expressway

Additional upgrades wont be a problem either, as anything I do in the future that may need to require additional programming, Ted will re-program for free (Only thing I pay is S&H). That is an outstanding deal considering how cheap he charges his LPM's for!

Overall I am very impressed with Ted's LPM, and I definitely recommend it to ANYONE with an ATX SHO, as it really wakes the tranny up bigtime!!!

I love the ability to short shift my ATX w/ the LPM. Try going WOT and manually shifting into 2nd gear at 25mph. You'll love it. thumbs_u

can manually shifting the ATX cause problems? I know not to do it from Nuetral to Drive (eventhough my friends and I did it once the first day I had my SHO) But from Drive to second gear manually while in motion?

Ted's LPM is awesome. Their is no reason to manually shift the ATX. It's not a good idea either

Manually shifting is for driving on snow or ice...it might be fun to manually downshift, but it won't be fun for too long... frown

Joel- you will find that your car is going to keep responding better and better to Ted's LPM the longer you have it installed. I was pretty impressed when I first installed mine last spring, but as the year went on the car kept getting better and better. I agree that if you have an ATX you NEED Ted Breaux's LPM! thumbs_u

That is why I have an Autometer Pro Comp staring me in the face. wink I could describe my particular observations with the gauge and manually shifting, but, I digress.

Downshifting or using the engine for braking is particularly bad for automatic transmissions. If you consider that all of your power is transferred through liquid (torque converter) in an atx, it's a bad idea to use the tranny for slowing down. The tranny fluid will break down prematurely and wear the torque converter out which equals tranny rebuild.

Metaldudes-listen up,my 89 finally got the chip and 80mm maf. First,I put chip in and immediately noticed car wouldn't start and fan was always on! Well-doh-took out chip and put it in upside down,now ok. Start car and hear a "growl" from my mandrel bend exhaust which I never had. I next,put in the 80mm. It took about 4 days to "settle itself" and then WHAMMO. Believe me,this set up is worth the bucks.It's been 4 months with no problems.

I have heard so much about Ted's LPM that I am going to get one to go along with the new 80mm MAF and CAI. I guess having a Superchip was a nice way of 'easing' into the modding arena, and I wouldn't trade the experience or fun I had with it, it's just that it's time to move on to bigger and better things (now that I have a little scratch in my pocket again).

When I got my first Superchip, it was well worth it, and I still think it is, especially for the "new" guys who don't have much, if any, other "go-fast" goodies yet.

I can't wait to get my grubby little hands on the 80mm and LPM combo. hehehehe...

Thanks man, my friend's atx will surely appreciate it. How do they work on mtx's? whats the advantage for having it in the mtx?

The MTX LPM does everything the ATX chip does except for the firmer shifts.

-faster throttle response and more low end torque
-more agressive fuel and timing curves
-fan turn on temp is lowered
-secondary opening RPM "CAN" be changed but not recommended for a stock or near stock motor
-allows you to add an 80mm MAF if you want to.

There's probably more but that's the main ones.

I've Heard nothing but good things about this LPM. Does it work a lot better with the 80mm MAF? and how much is that MAF? I'm definately getting one this summer. My tranny feels like its in good shape right now, cant wait to fire my bad boy up in the spring and light em up!!!

I've read a lot of bad stories of the 80mm maf causing problems, even with the LPM. It all depends on the vehicle, I'm getting my stock LPM reprogrammed due to loss of low-end torque. All the electronics in our cars are different, don't see how though. Some cars take good to different MAF's while other's need LPMs.

the way you said that makes it sound like you can add it without reprogramming...
