To the New Generation crowds; don't flame me, but not having the ordinary stick shift makes it not that appealing on these new SHOs. Plus they jack up the price as if they are trying to sell some luxury vehicle or something. Am I missing something here? Did our real SHO Enthusiasts change the way they want from the SHOs or many of you just get rich from this economy? :braincramp:

Nothing to flame about there....no worries. :) but the SHO's target demographic has changed from 20's and 30's to 40's 50's and 60's or more and in that group the auto is much more popular as are the luxury aspects. That's why it's gotten bloated, more luxurious and a whole lot more expensive.

I know what you mean: it's a different SHO now tailored for a different age group and perhaps in some ways a shadow of what it was. In other ways tho far ahead of what it was -- much more technologically advanced and by the sounds of it more problematic to some extent.

Rich from the economy? perhaps, a little. (no Warren Buffett here tho)
Retired younger, planned better with more fun money.....I'd have to say yeah.
Good planning and no major bills and no mortgage at the end of the line is key to success.:)

Ford will probably NOT make the SHO a manual, EVER. Not enough demand to market an entire new tranny for just a few people. This topic has been on table since day one.

And as for the price of the SHO, the 1989 SHO was about $20,000. I still have a window sticker showing a 1997 SHO was @ $32,000/$33,000. For the cost of inflation over the past 13 or so years, the cost difference isn't really changed much if you look at it like that.

EVERYTHING has gone up in price. Milk, gas, bread, cars, etc. Everything except some folk's paychecks. Employers tend to be a bit behind on that part of the inflation category. And as for the SHO enthusiasts changing the way they like their cars, it would be interesting to know how many original SHO owners from 1989-1999 actually have a 2010+ SHO. Perhaps they don't like the way the car has evolved, but Ford seems to have a hit on their hands. Only time will tell though if the SHO fades away like it did back in 1999.

I purchased my 91 new in 91 I believe it stickered at ~$25,000. I will not buy a new SHO because they won't offer a manual. I was lucky to find the G8 GXP manual, very similar price wise as a new SHO.

Black is beautiful isn't it......After seeing that pic I'm beginning to really like it.

Sure is, but after the care and feeding of my dark blue Lincoln with lots of chrome, I know how hard it is to keeping those dark colors looking good. I'm happy that I don't have a color that requires that daily once over to look good.

I hear you mj, and yes I've had black.....loved it but not liked the TLC necessary to keep it lookin' good.
I look for low maintenance these days having a bad back -- my IS-F is Mercury Silver -- read very low maintenance .....:) I'm hoping that the Red Candy is low maintenance too. I'm sure it won't be as difficult as black.

Having said all that I'll say that Tuxedo Black is beautiful .. and I can really see why it sells well......I just don't have the time, stamina, or desire any more to cope with it.

I'm lookin' forward to my Red Candy....:woo-hoo:
