Does anybody know the wire colors for direct line hookup for tape deck on a 98 SHO?

The thread on V8 SHO.COM seems to not be accurate for the 98 SHO.
I want to make sure I remove the correct pins.

Any help would be much appreciated!

i followed the directions of V8SHO.com directly and mine works just fine. if no one's responded by the time my wife gets home tonight, i'll tear her football out and take a look-see.

Yeah but is the 98-99 by any chance different? I only have either 2-3 of the colors that guide calls out for the line inputs and when I disconnected the gray wire and brown/light green wire and plug the unit in for a test once I keyed the car on the blower motor started running automatically without any command. This is causing me concern....

So I stoped with the test to re-verifiy

Looking at ALL-Data Motors

DB/W Cassette R+
W/PK Cassette L-
BK/LG Audio Ground

So I would assume hookup the first two as they are and join the grounds to the BK/LG wire.

Also, I installed a dumme tape in the deck that produces no audio. I think the tape deck is a little too smart. It plays the dumme tape for about 15 sec and then switched back and forth between 1-2. I think it has discovered no audio coming through and eventually stops playing and switched back to FM throwing a EDU 1 <---something like that code.

I imagine to get this to work I will have to use a real audio cassette in order to trick it into working?

i have a 98, too. i believe i did exactly what you mentioned...both grounds to the one, and then the signals to the other colors. if your blower motor's coming on, there's a good chance you're playing with the wrong wires. they should all be coming right off the back of the physical tape player. also, you're gonna need an actual tape in the deck to make this work. i believe i'm using an old Duran Duran album...

I bought one of theose cassette ipod adaptors. Took it apart and removed the wire portion for direct hookup and reassembled. I don't think it works though becuase of clever circuitry that probably identifies no sound being pickup. It runs fine for about 15 sec. then switches to number 2 for a few seconds and then back to number 1. Does that a couple of times and finally calls it quits with a code numbe 1. I just assume it knows better. So I need a real tape.

Another tip: I repaired my salvage yard new 99 broken tape deck by swaping a 97 good tape deck. Pretty simple procedure.

I wonder if the tape deck can be deleted altogether by jumping a few pins on the radio connect?

I took the tape deck out of mine. A pound or two weight savings.

I didn't try. There was a thread about it over at TCCA. It can be done.
