ive got an aftermarket radio installed in my car. AM/FM radio/tapedeck in the top DIN, CD changer in the bottom DIN. recently it seems that one of the grounds on the back of the CD changer has come loose causing my speakers to crackle with static when i hit bumps or sometimes a high-pitched whine occurs as the cars RPMs increase. im trying to figure out how to get the stupid thing out now. i took off the surrounding little piece that goes around the edge of the CD player to cover up the edges of the faceplate but i cant figure out how to get the CD player itself out. i didnt install it and dont know much about actual CD player installs. is it held in by bolts/screws i dont see or is it just held in by tabs like the surrounding piece? where are the bolts/tabs/whatever at and hwo do i get to them?

1994 ATX, Pioneer decks.
After the trim ring is off, you need a removal tool. They are L shaped tools with latches on the end. You stick them in throught the sides til they click, then just pull the stereo out.

This is the only way you can get it out. Find a friend that has purchased a Pioneer Head Unit and borrow the tools.

EDIT: I noticed you are in Colorado... If you cannot find anyone that has them before I get back next month, I will let you borrow mine. OR, get in touch with Chris, "AutoSHO" on this forum. He live in C-Springs, he may be able to help you out.

you can stick a small piece of flat metal in the two slots on the sides of the CD player. If you don't get it with that, go to Circuit City and ask them to remove it for you. They shouldn't charge you.

You need what are called "Pioneer keys." Go to any local car audio store and they should have no problem giving you or lending you a set...they are cheap, common and plentiful around vendors that install decks.
