I did something like that to my old 92.....but the exact opposite with black paint. Looked pretty damn cool, IMHO, and I'm thinking about doing it again....but I might experiment with something else.

Chances are, unless you laid that paint thick, it'll be quite easy to see through at night...

i ended up customizing the brake lights on my 94. What i did was tape off 2 circles right where the light bulbs are and a small one where the reverse lamps are. Also a small one in the bottom corner where it wraps around the car for legal purposes. Got some plastic paint and gave it acouple heavy coats. looks great imo.
i have pictures up on my cardomain.

Great idea! :thumb:

Unfortunately, it's illegal (at least in my state it is). I couldn't pass inspection with them on, even though the guy is pretty cool about stuff like that; he just couldn't let me "slide". I removed them and have since kept them off, but I did that last year. For what it's worth, people seemed to really enjoy them when up close.

well. when it comes to michigan. we dont have any inspections, and nobody really enforces any vehicle laws unless u have red/blue lights. i was thinking also about nightshading all of the stock taillight. and doing a border of silver around the outside.

I tinted mine with the "night shades". Totally legal here in Alberta Canada. Looks meaner and if you don't go too dark, still allows the lights to be seen clearly!

Haha, yeah... after the first winter I noticed some clear coming off... so I tried clearing it again in not-so-recommended weather conditions (on some random warm day this past March), and it initially looked great; but the next day rolled around and I was like,"Holy crap, how did I do THAT!?"... they came off about a week later after I bought some replacements on eBay... :nut:

Aw well...

Inspection? Who needs inspection. . . . . . .just don't drive by any cops, or park near any. . . ;)

I nightshaded an extra set of tails I got at the junkyard. As long as there is some light that you can see I don't think there should be a problem. I put 2 coats on and they are pretty dark, yet you can still see the lights while braking and you can totally see them at night.:)

Yeah, mine weren't nite shaded... it was, as follows, one coat gray primer, two coats flat black, and two coats clear... NO light was visible through the black portions, which was my plan. Eh, no biggy, I'm back to regular stockers and quite honestly, I like them best :thumb:

Tragically '90s! Then again isn't the whole car? I like my tails to be either lightly smoked, or clean and shiny- but still stock!

both of these pics were taken 2 years ago... i dont have any recent pics that i can find right now, but they haven't changed a bit... couple thin coats of niteshades, then 3 coats of clear, (light)... i think they came out great..
