Have a 95 ATX and just had the trans rebuilt. Runs great, no hard shifts. But one thing I noticed is the tach is reading higher than it did. We have owned the car 2 years and the tach reading at about 70 mph was around 2200 rpm's. Just got the car back with a totally rebuilt trans. It went in for a front main seal leaking and as usual they find more damage parts. Now go out for nice drive and see the Tach reads at 2500 rpm's at 70. Is this normal? Or is this average tach reading for over drive for an ATX with a brand new rebuilt trans? Yes, took it out of over drive and the rpm's go over 3000 rpm's. So O/D is working.

No, it should read the same as it did before, provided there is no slipping. I don't know what a stock ATX is supposed to be though. I wouldn't think they changed the gearing...

sounds like the torque converter may not be locking up now. when driving at 70 if you press a little harder on the gas, do the tach and speedo go up proportionally? or does the tach jump up before the speedo registers any gain?
