Just posting some pics and a positive experience doing this mod. Once the burping made sense to me and I did it right, the car runs noticeably cooler. I filled the overflow tank to cool lower line full, then let the car run with the cap off for 10 mins saw the air bubbles and heard the fans kick on and waited for the tstat to open.

That small bowl worked ok to catch the coolant spill, just had to slowly maneuver it around the hoses. Am I supposed to get another program for the thermostat or is that already on the LMS 93 Octane 2013 program I already flashed the car with?

You will note the temp difference immediately. You can also have your tuner change the fan temp info to benefit the T-stat, but it isn't a big deal in my opinion, unless you are adding other options like Methanol Spray, which will require tuning mods.

I just caught this but last photo......just slightly left of the thermostat housing there is a jagged line running along the casting.....is that a crack or a piece of debris that got caught in the photo?

Lol, the whole time my dog wouldn't go away interested in what I was doing. I was nervous she would try to lick the bowl. Glad I was able to pull off the tstat and oring swap in a second or it would have been bad news...

So, just asking the question again. I have the 2013 93 Octane program from LMS, am I good or do I need a custom fan speed update? :thankyou:

If you experience hi ambient temps or are stuck in traffic a lot, get the update.

If you are going to lower your T-stat temp, why wouldn't you lower your fans to come on sooner? I would email/call LMS and have them send you an updated tune.

Probably consolidation of pics into a single album? That would break links, unfortunately.

I installed mine with the casting frame "Bridge" at the 12 O' Clock not really required but just trying to get a standardized position. My Thermostat was a lot easier than I thought, one week later no leaks, I did replace gasket and put a moderate dab of RTV on the thermostat housing-block seal. I didn't think about the cap off burping trick I did it another way. I ran the vehicle to normal operating temperature then ran the heater for about 5-10 minutes in each setting to work some coolant through the heater core. Apparently it worked because I had to top off coolant one more time after everything circulated through system.

I used a dedicated drain pan so no need to worry about a coolant flavored "Chips and Salsa" bowl if you come over.

The problem with pictures is this. NEVER post a link to pictures. All you will end up with is broken links and dead ends. Because all the picture/file hosting sites will change or close down making the link no good. ALWAYS post directly to to the forum you are working on. I have fought this on at least 6-7 forums. That way the pictures will be there until that forum eventually closes down.

Very frustrating to not see all the great photo's!

I agree, but at least in my case, I am not the source for the pics, and the size of pics on this forum is still comparatively limited compared to the sharing sites :( Would love to have these pics be native to the forum!
