I have the ceramic TOB with the regular series clutch and it is quiet. I think it is the luck of the draw (the noise). I think if you had a noise when you applied the clutch, that maybe then it would be time to look for a remedy.

Read up a bit on the self adjuster mechanism on your clutch pedal. Because our crazy cars have a TOB that is constantly in contact with the pressure plate fingers (which defies logic), then a bearing that is not hard pressed against the fingers may make some noise as it speeds up and slows down, and slips as it looses contact with the fingers. It is quietest when it is going the same speed as the clutch fingers, so your TOB / finger contact might be a little loose and your self adjuster is supposed to look after that. Try moving the little arm at the end of your clutch cable in the engine compartment a little bit each way and see what the sound does.

Is the bite point of the clutch way down in the travel of the clutch pedal (like in the carpet)?

I think your throw out bearing (TOB) has failed you. You have a new clutch (and I assume TOB) so you shouldn't be having these problems. Here is my story: my first failure involved the seal on the bearing itself came out and some of the balls broke up. In short order, this took out most of the fingers on the pressure plate and the car was pretty much unusable. In my other case, the TOB stayed intact but the pressure plate fingers wore down and broke off, one at a time. That is where it gets hard to get it into first and reverse. It is hard to say what failure you are experiencing.
In both cases, the disc's themselves were still useable, but nearing the end of their life.

These cars just love to make TOB noise. It's the nature of the beast.

If you drive "normal" and don't slip the clutch a lot you will ALWAY'S wear the pressure plate finger's before the disc.
