i was wondering if on our cars if the synchronizer for the cam sensor goes out if the oil pump stops working too? reason i ask is i pulled off my cid sensor to replace it today and the inside of the synch was extremely hot. i have also been hearing what sounds like a slight squeal that varies at engine speed (definately not anything to do with the acc drive belt or pullies.) has anyones synchronizer ever siezed on them?

These cars do not use a gear-driven cam synchro, it's just a shutter screwed on the end of the rear bank exhaust cam with a ring bolted to the head to which the cam sensor is attached. Therefore the heat would be perfectly normal as it's telegraphed along the camshaft inside the motor to the shutter.
