This is the most accurate statement here. The bluetooth stack on the blackberry is not flawless and may not connect sometimes automagically. Just watch when you get in your car, if the phone doesn't sync immediately, you have to connect it manually from the Blackberry bluetooth menu or "restart the car" like you said (which initiates another connect attempt from the SYNC headunit).

My Android 1.5 Samsung had about a 50% success rate on connecting, it was annoying, but it was definitely the phone...my new Nexus Android 2.1 phone has connected rather successfully most times. My work Blackberry Curve usually connected when I used it, but sometimes it wouldn't link. Similar behavior to the bluetooth system in my Prius.

I've always thought it was the other way around. The BT on the phone is always on (if you set it, which most would if they had a BT system) and it's the system that tries to connect to the phone.

My folks have a Motorola visor clip-on BT thing and it connects everytime to either my dads Razr or my moms LG Chocolate. It does have a problem deciding which phone to connect to if they entre the car at the same time though.
The BT system in the TL also works every single time with my LG Shine. I've never once had to do anything manually to have the two connect.

Maybe smart phones are different.

It is always just some combination of OS versions on both sides that can end up being a problem. Its great your guys stuff has always connected... Blackberry had an OS that had bluetooth issues for about 3 months before they issued a fix... The phone would respond to connect attempts to it all the time and you had to tell the phone to initiate a connection to the paird device, then when it did connect, the volume would be very low.

As the pieces get more complicated, there's more spots for something to go amiss, so the "risk" is higher in a smart phone, but in the end, it usually always get patched over time.

I have a pioneer headunit that has bluetooth in my car. I used to have a blackberry, I'd say 95% of the time I got in the car and waited 20 seconds the bluetooth was ready to go without out selecting anything. But now that I have iphone it works 100% of the time..

Ya not really Sean. Bringing a car in for warranty issues is far from fun and painless, so many times nothing gets fixed because the problems are intermittent. You then waste half your day at the dealership doing nothing and and getting nothing done to your vehicle.

It's annoying as ****.

Well, return it then ;).

Didn't know your power steering pump is broken, and don't be so ******* yourself, your wheels aren't that gawdy.

Only a little bit. ;)

Yea, Seans wheels are not that bad... I mean, At least he doesnt have wheels that have these rediculous looking bolts around it trying to make it look like a 2 or 3 Peice wheel. That would terrible looking!

Maybe I should tack a plastic air dam on the car to complete the look.

BTW, you're right about the fake bolts, they are stupid and terrible looking!

Yes Bluetooth was turned on, that is why I showed the Bluetooth logo at the top of the screen. That shows that it is currently paired with a phone. I have the car scheduled for service on Tuesday. I have quite a list so far. Am I the only one with all the issues?

Just wanted to touch base, getting this thread back on topic, and see what you were able to find out about your Sync. Any answers?

Thanks for that. It is in for service today. I did have a chance to speak to someone who knows Bluetooth very very well. His thought was that the cars computer just had a brief glitch and required the re-start, just like any Windows stuff. The systems are not perfect.

At this point I am most concerned with the engine hesitation, or cutting out, however I should describe it. I can handle a phone not working... I don't want to be somewhere stranded with a dead car.

Good luck and let us know how things go.

I have issues sometimes with the Bluetooth and my phone but it is all on the phone side. I have an LG Chocolate 3 with Verizon and most times the car "sees" the phone just fine and connects. Sometimes, however, I'll get in the car and the nav says "no paired phones found" or it'll find my phone but after several minutes Synch will say "Bluetooth disconnected". When this happens I can't do anything with my phone. I also can't hear anything through my phone speaker although I can answer calls. The only thing that fixes it is to shut the phone off and turn it back on. I then go back into the phone menu, select my phone, and press "connect" and it finds it.

I think the issue is the Bluetooth on the phone side.

These new fancy phones with so many fucntions that do so much, are seemingly the least reliable for bluetooth; Sprint keeps wanting to give me a free new phone, but I dont want one as my old Samsung flip phone works perfectly for what I use it for, and has never once failed; worked every time with the bluetooth in my Grand Cherokee for over 4 years. And now that I said that, Murphy's law will prevail and it wont connect next time !

Man, I just started following all your threads. Are all the other 2010 owners having these same problems? I know it's a new car, 1st year, bugs have to get worked out, etc.; but man...what a piece of crap this thing sounds like.

Maybe you just got a lemon but if we start seeing other posts with all the problems you've been having, we'll be able to positively conclude if the new SHO is as much of a piece of crap as the 20 year old ones. I like the new ones---but not if they turn out to all be like yours.

These are interesting posts to read though.

Absolutely no problems so far

I'm a proud owner of a brand new 2010 SHO and I have had ZERO, let me rephrase that... ZZEERROO!!! issues with my ride. I took my bare bones basic cell phone and it fully integrated, including the transmission and receipt of text messages which the Sync system allows me to have read to me by the system, as well as the option for me to verbally dictate outgoing text messages (AWESOME!) and the integration has been completely seamless and just exactly what you would expect from modern technology platforms such as the one in the SHO. Furthermore I am not easy on my car, and I have tried to test its limits on icy roads, wet roads and pushed the limit on cornering as well as countless full throttle "take off's" from red lights etc with ZERO problems, did I mention I haven't had any troubles with anything in my new SHO yet??? I only have 2500 miles racked up so clearly I have just begun the experience but thus far it has been unbelievable, let me just say this, Ford built a winner and I'm so glad I got in on the first one for me this car is the ideal blend of performance, comfort, technology, and styling all at a price point which can't be beat!
