Besides my previous thread about steering issues due to worn subframe bushings, are there any other known symptoms? Also wanted to ask what exactle the recall was, and which years it affected.
Is there any suggestions as to what else I should replace or modify while I'm doin the bushings?

My car would dive to the right under throttle when my right bushing "pulled thru" That's my only experience.

Sub-frame bushing check

I use two tests to see if the bushings have failed:

1) Open hood. Start engine and turn steering wheel left-right several times while watching the engine in its bay. If the engine moves laterally, the bushings, especially the rears, have worn out.

2) Place a floor jack under each of the corners of the sub-frame. Begin to raise the corner slightly. A worn bushing will show a noticeable raising of the sub-frame BEFORE the body starts to move .

The recall affected all years of the SHO for vehicles that were registered or sold in the Rust Belt. There is a stickied post around here with a link that allows you to check for open recalls by VIN. Poke around and use it to check if your particular car is on the list (or just call your local dealer with your VIN).

Which bushings did you end up using, and what year SHO? I have a 95 MTX, and I'm hearing mixed things from all over the place, but only a few good reviews...

I've usually used the Gen III version in all four corners.

Works on all years of the SHO with some minor rework.

Woah! When I turn the wheel back and forth from 10 to 2, the motor probably has a total of 2 inches of movement!! Is this thing safe to drive to work tomorrow???

Haha, that must have been it when you were at Schucks and I said it moved a bunch - I think you probably grabbed the steering wheel as you were getting out. Crazy stuff:oogle:
