Is it possible to swap the dash from my '91 SHO into my '89? I don't care about the airbag wiring... but will the wiring harness just be plug and play? I really can't stand the '89 dash. I like the '91 MUCH better!

Thanks!

the whole dash or you just talking about the instrument cluster? either way you'll have to use the 89 wiring, and probably repatch a bunch of stuff to fit the switches in the correct place on the 91 dash. I don't think the pin outs for the cluster wiring are the same either.

What's wrong with the 89 dash? It has more legroom for the passenger area and it's lighter (smaller)

I want to use the ENTIRE dash.

1: I have a MINT dash from my '91.The '89 dash is cracked(very small ones) at the top, near the windshield vents.

2: It's ugly,IMO.
Dammit. I was hoping it would just fit in,and everything would just plug right in.

Did you put a 91 dash in the 89?

I got the dash swapped and all and now im stuck with wiring issues in the engine bay..

Ideally, i would need to know all the pinouts from the 90 dash harness and the 89 counterpart (engine side)

Proving to be difficult....

Not good at electronics

I really am getting frustrated with it

Holy Old thread batman!!!!!

You said what i thought!

I used to be completely against the 89 dash but ive owned both a 89 and currently my 91 plus. Ive also got an 89 currently sitting in a field that will begin a resto process at the beginning of the year. I found with my previous 89 that i restored that if you redo and fix up everything on the dash it looks pretty good. Yea it definately shows its from the 80's era but it looked good. My 91 dash is awesome and i prefer it but if i had both sitting side by side and had to go on a cross country trip id probably go with the 89 for the extra room. When i restore my 89 in the spring i will restore and keep the 89 dash. I think its cool. Here is a pic of the 89 that i had. It wasnt perfect but i liked how it turned out. The dashmat made it look nicer too in my opinion. But you stick it next to a pic of my 91's dash and its a no brainer.
