I'm an auto detailer and i've done many cars that have required swirl removal and i've done them well. As luck would have it, I can't get the damn swirls out of my own car. When i buffed it after it was wetsanded i used 1000 grit coupound. Then went back over it twice with 2000 grit compound twice. I waited about a week and then put some 3000 grit coupound and mixed it with some Presta Ultra Gloss that promises to take surface haze/swirls right out and that they won't come back. I did this twice and i used an orbital that only goes 1200 RPM to be sure that it won't leave swirls of it's own. Does anyone know of a heavy duty swirl remover. thanks in advance.

My experience is the heavy duty swirls only come out with 1000 grit wet or dry, then the rest of the work is getting the scratches from the wet/dry out. Once you're up to 2000 grit or or higher, that won't take any deep swirls out. You may have to start again, 1500 grit w/d might work.

I thought your not suppose to touch the car with any abrasive compound until a month after a paint job?

Yes. After it is painted, you must wetsand it to make it smooth all over, eliminate orange peel, etc etc and then buff out the wetsanding marks. I used 1000 grit compound to buff out the wetsanding marks and that is why there are swirls. . I got many of them out but if the light hits it just right, you can still see some. I know black is a tough color but i'll get em out.

Also, you can buff the car about 3 days after it is painted. I believe it's waxing you're thinking of. You cannot put anything on that contains silicone on new paint for about three months. I use 3000 handglaze for the finish or Ultra gloss. Both work nice and contain no silicone. ?
