Has anyone ever tried drilling additional holes for the endlinks to provide adjustment? Front or rear. I've heard of it being on other vehicles.

our swaybars aren't really setup like those

ours are more rounded and where the endlink goes, it cuts down really steep and is conical for our style bushings to fit snug....

some of the aftermarket ones I've seen for other cars, the swaybar is flat along the tips and just has regular holes drilled into it for attachment to the endlink.......

some aftermarket swaybars for other cars

and here is my setup with a 26mm bar, you can see its not as flat on the ends as the other bars, nor is the hole drilled/shaped the same, it damn near looks impossible to put another hole on a stock sho sway bar with our endlink style, maybe if they were modified to have different tips though.....

The 29mm SHO-SHOP bar of old has, I believe, 3 holes for endlink placement. But for all other bars, you can purchase the sweet powergrid adjustable endlinks from SHOsource. These will allow you to set preload wherever you like, and perfectly cornerwieght the car.

My car is up on a lift waiting for a transmission rebuild, so it would take three minutes to remove the 23mm bar... then the drill press is around the corner... grind the flat area back about another inch and drill another hole.

It should net me a spring rate that is equivalent to a 25mm bar.

About corner balancing, I thought the convention is to adjust the spring perches and then use the adjustable endlinks to take out any twist in the swaybar, not to induce a twist at neutral ride height to compensate. I've never done it though.

True, but with a non-coilovered SHO, no spring height adjustment allowed. I would first corner-weight the car without the bars hooked up, just to see if the stock links are inducing any changes. And depending on the road course you are setting up for, some preloading of a certain wheel can be a good thing.

Cause bigger is better, of course. Turtle sho ran something like an 80mm swaybar, right?

Tim, you're correct about the old SS 29mm bar. I have one on my 90, and it has three holes for different placement. :salute:

It seems to pair quite well with a 24mm front. I originally had it in one of my gutted cars-caged cars, but I felt that the added stiffness was un-necessary as the rear of the car was extremely light, so there was no noticeable improvement in body-roll. However the 90 is a full interior/full weight car and it made a huge improvement on it.

I may end up investing in some of the adjustable end-links SHO Source is offering to see how they fair on my lightened cars. Also, just an FYI the SS 29mm bars are not solid like the Ford bars, they are actually hollow.

If you have any more sway-bar question’s fire away as I also have two 28mm’s.
