I know its been gone over... but i need a clear cut answer and im not finding it with search function.

If i want to put a Aftermarket stereo in my SHO.. can i just wire it in there?

I think i had the impression that because there is an amp and stuff in it already its not a simple wire it up and go solution, that there is no actual speaker wires at the stock stereo location?

Im not worried about amps, subs, or anything like that.. just interior speakers and a head unit for now... ill worry about other stuff after =]

Thanks all

What you need to get is an amp integration harness kit, which you can get at Best Buy for less than $20. Of course, you can get the amp bypass kit for just an extra $1 that has more stuff in case you want to upgrade in the future, but let's just say you get the integration one.

There'll be a harness that connects to the plug coming out FROM the dash that has things like power, ground, antenna, etc wires, and another from the dash that has the outputs for the amp. The first one is simple enough, and the instructions with it are actually pretty good, but the other is a little different.

With that one, it depends on the stereo you get. If you get one that has 2 sets of RCA outputs (which is good :thumb: ), you need to go to radio shack and get a set of solder on RCA plugs to solder onto the wires in that harness, so that they can plug into your deck and make everything dandy. If you get a sad deck  that only has speaker outputs, then you'll connect those wires up to the harness. Again, the instruction and wiring descriptions with the harness are really good.

You will very much appreciate a deck with 2 sets of RCA preouts, so uh. Get one :thumb:

No problem :thumb:

Just find some shop that does stereo installs, an electronics store that sells car stereo stuff, and you should be able to buy one off them ;)
