I have not done an engine swap since 1981 when I put a v8 into a datsun 510 .I am extremely rusty and have never even had the intake off any of my sho's.so is there a publication that details this procedure? and is there anything besides the rod bearings I need to replace ,also should I take it through the top or drop it through the bottom? thanks

I just finished rebuilding and swapping a 3.2 into my SHO. I would say that a Helms is a must for a project such as swapping a motor.

I used to believe chitons were better ,is that no longer the case?

I didn't say Haynes, I said Helms. Helms is the publisher for the Ford factory maunal. You can't just go to Kragen, Napa....and buy one. You can order them online. They run around $100 - you can't get better than a Helms, that is what the factory (dealerships) use.
