My fathers 93 sho siezed the engine about 2 years ago, we go to start it after swapping in a engine from a gen 1 not sure of the year and its not starting. We are pretty sure it is fuel related because it will fire off ether. Checked the pressure at the fuel rail at its 38-39 psi. The gas in the tank did sit for a couple years but it was only about a 1/4 tank and we filled the tank up with 5 gallons of fresh gas and injector cleaner but still wont fire. Ive gone over everything and check all connectors three times, is there something i could be forgetting or is it possible the wire harness off a gen 1 engine is any different from a gen 2. What i should do next?

Well, when you crank it are you smelling gas fumes out the tailpipes? You are getting pressure at the rail, but is it going through the cylinders? ie. are the injectors firing? Old gas shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Thats what im trying to find out is if the injectors are firing, i already got it to fire up a little bit on the ether so i dont think i would be able to smell gas from the tailpipe

So it did fire up. Then you got spark :thumb: . All you basically need it fuel, oxygen and spark right? Well sounds like your not getting fuel. What does the car do when you floor the pedal during cranking?

Not quite sure what you mean by this but normally when a fuel injected car is at wot on cranking it goes into clear flood mode which i would assume is what is happening for me.

Yes. When you crank at WOT. The injectors are shut off. But is sounds like your are shut off all the time. Just want to see what it will do at WOT. Are all your engine fuses good?

Yea, they are all good, im thinking that the injectors and/or rail must be plugged up with something.

Heres a cute aside: I see this on the forum all the time (injectors shut off at WOT), but what about between nothing and WOT? Injectors on, off? I've always wondered...

I highly doubt that something would be blocking the rail. I would check to see if your FP is sustaining during cranking. Have someone watch the gauge while you crank. If that's ok, check for a grounding problem. All the injectors wouldn't fail at the same time. Most likely missing a ground somewhere.

Redskull: Not sure what you mean? The injectors are pulsing during normal crank, but WOT shuts them down.
