the rear is lower due to the notorious "sag" of bad rear springs.
so if your going to re[lace the struts,go ahead and replace the springs too.

Bad coils = car lowered
Bad struts = car springs on bad roads.

The coils supports the car , while the struts cancel them from springing all over with a bump you took 2 miles ago.

The SHO has a level stancve with teh stock springs and a slight forward rake with the Eibach springs. The rear sprigs on your car are sagging from old age. Any bags of sand in the trunk?

On my '97 it worked great just raising the strut in the knuckle. I jacked it up so the alignment tab sets on top of the pinch bolt. Raised it a good inch and could have gone twice that if I wanted.

Don't know how much strut is sticking out of the knuckle bottom though on a V6 SHO.

There is no adjustment at the rear strut on any Taurus I've ever seen...

Really??

Ive got at least 2 inches of strut poking out the bottom of the knuckles in the rear.

Yeah, but I if I recall correctly, the pinch bolt goes through a notch in the strut or the strut has a bracket that bottoms out on the knuckle. If that info is correct, it's not actually adjustable, but I suppose you could do that.

There is not ajustment designed into it....these guys are cutting off the small placement tab for the pinch bolt location, sliding the strut body up or down in the knuckle, and reclamping it in the new location. I did this on my SHO, to drop the back end about 1/2 or 3/4"....it leveled it out, and seemed to help a bit with understeer by getting a bit of weight off the heavy ATX nose.
