(I should mention that along with all the stuff replaced in my signature that I have no oil or water in my plug wells and the chip stopped working during the crank sensor problem that I had. I had Superchips send me about 4 replacements and they all acted identically.)

This is the last non-maintenance related problem on my car and I'd really like to get it resolved... My Superchip (which has been verified working by Steve Tatro) is causing a huge dip in power around 3700-3900 RPM. It's especially noticable in 1st gear but also 2nd gear if I manually hold the car in either gear and vary the throttle position. When it gets to that range, it feels like the spark shuts off and when it gets either above or below that range, it feels like the spark kicks back in. It happens instantly and is pretty much On-Off.

It has been happening a bit lately with the chip out as well so it seems to be a condition that is aggrivated by the chip being installed. I replaced the TPS yesterday but didn't "officially" discharge the PCM. I tried pulling the negative lead to the PCM last night and letting it sit but that doesn't look like it reset the PCM. I'll just remove the negative lead tonight and try to clear it again.

Anyone have any ideas? I figured it might be the TPS because it's the only sensor I know of that measures the throttle position (hence the name) and it's a mechanical sensor so it could wear out. Like I said earlier, the only thing I haven't done is truely drain the PCM's memory.

I've received a lot of "just get rid of the chip" but the performance gain is significant enough to warrant keeping it. Plus, if the problem is starting to show up with the chip out, it obviously is an engine problem regardless of the chip being in or out.

Just a thought if you have not completely cleared the codes then why would you think that the car would run any better just by pulling the chip.the reason I say this is I had a similar problem with my chip and it ended up being this very thing.I was not clearing my codes properly so the computer was just maintaining its original memory causing alot of problems with the idle and fuel mixtures.I properly reset the computer and no problems as of yet, when you clear your codes do not forget to set the idle program as well you can get the post on here that will walk you through it step-by-step.Hope this helps you.

Only problem is that the secondaries open with the chip out but act all screwed up with the chip in... I'm going to call Superchips up again and see what can be done...
