Traction??

With my car being lowered, and with the suspension being stiff, I cant see a problem with having a 12 second v8sho, as long as the engine and transmisison are modded enough to give it enough power. With nitrous, and the 245/40z18's i can't even get the tires to spin, unless you turn the wheel or take a turn. And my car aint that slow. (Meaning not enough power like it should have) Never mind throwing on slicks for more traction !!! :dribble:

PS: Never used nor needed them... But someone trying to get 12's in the quarter mile might. I am just saying i seem to get better traction then some of the mustangs i have tried to race, they spin trying to take off fast while i did take off fast with no spin!!!! Just wish i had the money for a Supercharger and/or turbo. Maybe also some more money to modify the tranny more then what it is!! Why is it that it all costs money :bonk:

Maybe you could, with being lowered if not, and wider wheels for more traction? Maybe even slicks?

I race with Nitto Drag radial 245/50/16s :D They kick *** on the road, but for some reason they will spin on the tracks :squint: Unless they get a nice warm up, but I don't like to do that to my poor ATX.

You have 18 inch rims, thats why your tires dont spin much. If you took the "show Tires" off you would have problems with traction, but you would have better et's.

The size of the rims has nothing to do with it. The diameter of the 245/40-18" tires is actually a hair smaller than the stock 225/55-16" tires. If anything, that would put a hair MORE torque down to the ground than running stock rims & tires. The lack of wheelspin is because of the width of the tread, and possibly because of the weight of the rims. 18" rims aren't necessarily heavier than our stock rims, although they usually are. That's probably what you were getting at (the weight of the rims) but it's not really an accurate way to say it.

I believe you are right on that second statement. AFAIK, stock and lightly modded V8SHOs often seem to get better ETs when you can spin the tires a little bit on launch. It helps get the motor up into peak TQ range quicker. As long as you hook up after a few feet, it's all good. If the engine is blown, I'm sure there's considerably more torque down low, so you probably won't want wheelspin at all.

From my statement above, you have to think about a few things. The V8 SHO's have more torque, especially off the line, also, its an ATX, much easier to launch than the MTX's. The blown V6 SHO's have the power AND the ET's do get them into 12's, but with the faults of the MTX trannies, axles, etc etc, it makes it much harder.

What is your best et for your car and what is your dyno rating? The installation is great looking. Is that a Novi Charger?
