Out of the box set ups . . . . no

Can you custom make one . . . . sure, if you have the time/money. People have done it

Can you get it to 400hp? Not bloody likely unless you have an unlimited supply of trannies.

I know this is SHO Forum, but may I suggest a different platform altogether? I might get flamed for this, but a Mustang perhaps? Or if you want an unassuming sedan how about a M5?

Price an M5 and price an SHO...... Most people here own an SHO because it was the most well rounded car they could find in their price range.

I say low boost V8 with a fabbed M-90 like E1's or a custom remote turbo similar to Strings car. Heck throw in a built ATX or a M6 MTX swap.

Of course low boost pistons aren't even made. But you get what's been rolling through my head. I wonder if the pistons could be set in a lathe and cut down...

It would be better to port the combustion chambers and unshroud the valves. This would raise the chamber volume and lower compression enough for boost...

1 call to wiesco and you would have a set of pistons in 4-6 weeks.

probably the same reason I am. There is not enough clutches in the packs nor is there enough cool fluid going to the clutches to keep them from burning.

The best transmission I have had in my car was the FPS transmission. I melted the 3rd gear sprag gear carier and anniliated all of the 3rd gear clutches. 3rd gear sits in the middle of 2 other clutch packs and aparently is not getting enough cooling. When my ATX can't sustain the reccord for quickest 1/4 mile SHO anymore then I will worry about it more.

The best thing you gen 3 guys have going for you is the fact your PCM reduces power durring the shift event. God I wish my computer would do that.

You have to understand how I drive my SHO. I drive a slow work van all day and a POS saturn on my personal time. When I get in my SHO I beat the CRAAP out of it wait for the transmission to cool down, beat the **** out of it some more. Do some burnouts. Bitch about the crappy 2-3 shift. do some more burnouts. Then I find some twisty roads and fade my brakes then I let the transmission cool again. See where i'm going with this. My car is making a lot of power and for it to last a year is really saying something. my FPS transmission went 10K, the one I rebuilt my self is already slipping (3rd gear only it seems) after a few thousand. Granted i'm running 13-14 psi with the 3.:98 gears but it didn't last this time.

internaly our transmission are extremely simaliar. There is only a few different parts. Yours is better... or can be. listed to a clip of paul nimbs SHO shift on the dyno. Then find a video clip of my car and count how long it takes to shift. It is pathetic on my end

**** of a first post:nut:

400 at the crank or 400 at the wheels?

Hey Eric,
did you ever see what kind of numbers yours produced?? I talked to Doug a few weeks ago and he says mine is moving back on schedule. If memory serves right it would only be a little above 300 ponies. Its's been a while since I asked him that, like a year or two or three?:dribble: I know the V-6s were over 300 easily so maybe the V-8s will be right in front of those. Not even sure if Carter ever posted numbers on his S/C SHO though either. Soon as hear about mine we'll all know what it produces that's for sure. This waiting-to-get-mine-back really SUX! Sure miss the rumble of that beast. ****......

You V6 guys are right, it's simple and has been done numerous times in the V8 ... just like the Gen II. IN fact, all the parts are readily available and all the homework to do it is finished. Just a matter of buying the parts.
