Anyone know where to get cheap replacements for these. I was told they're like 60 from the dealer. if not, anyone ever wired up a momentary 3 way switch in this location? Which wires do i connect to what? there a 4 wires to the switch, not sure what each one does tho.

My car is on its third one because the plastic switch part brakes off, and i'm not paying 60 for a switch.

Thanks,

Adam

I think they're more expensive than that at a dealer, they usually sell on ebay for around 50 bucks. I'm looking for one for my 93 mocha. If its just the switch that breaks off the console...like pushes up through, just glue it back down with apoxy or somethin, that's what I did with mine before the front clips of the console completely broke off and it now hangs down

Yeah, sounds just like mine, the console is broke free up front, and hangs down just like you explained.

I guess i'll look around eBay or something...

Thanks,

Adam

Take it out and epoxy the **** out of the front mount. LIke totally encase the metal with the epoxy. Thats what I did. Till I found a good one at the boneyard. Got a spare now too!

epoxy or jb weld works great. and costs only like $5 too. i let mine sit overnight then put it back in and now i could take a hammer to that thing and it won't come loose. if the switch itself is broken i may be able to get one for u. i remember someone on here using a window switch as a replacement.

do NOT use the napa switch, since the napa write up was originally created napa has redesigned the switch, it can't handle the draw the moonroof uses. multiple users on the forum have tried it recently only to have the switch fail right away. the new napa switches burn out right away and are usless. your best bet for an aftermarket switch is the contour switch listed above. Contours are plentiful and the cars are everywhere in junkyards. when i went to the local yard to get the switch they just gave it to me free.

I feel lucky. Of the five SHO's I own only one had a switch problem.
I promptly repaired it with 'Plastix'. It's a great glue that has never failed.

I also have a Contour SE, hence I have a collection of used parts.
I'll have to try that modification.
But I believe using the original Contour connector with pigtails would be a cleaner install.

Interesting, I've had my switch going on 4 yrs, no prob. I'll keep an eye on it.

I guess i should have been more specific, NAPA recently changed the design of their switches, if youve had it for 4 years you have the older style that held up fine. a few people have reported the new switches have changed and burn out right away.

IIRC the ford contour window switch is about $17 brand new from the dealer. it also is illuminated which is a nice touch. I've also seen people use switches from 89-90 Taurus/Sable

the contour switch with its original pigtail is too long to fit in the sho moonroof console... which is why you have to modify it and solder it on.

Dang, no clearance.
Back in 2001 when I purchased my 1st SHO I moved the switch to the dash.
I didn't like the hand in the air routing needed to open it.
I moved the check engine light beside the auto lamp.

I've often thought of moving the Oil pressure light to somewhere other than the bottom left corner... Like next to one of the other lights in my 92's cluster.

just to add. If the counsel is sagging in front, you can use 3M adhesive. Comes in a red box. Got mine from napa. So far this lasted me 2 years still holding up perfect.

why does that bezel have woodgrain on it? did you have to use a bezel from a wagon for the extra switch location?
