I'm new to the group, but I've had my SHO for about 6 months now and when I was closing my sunroof the other day the switch pushed up inside the plastic cover. I've heard that people have put the power window switch in its place for improved reliability. Does anyone know of any links that could show me how to do that? Also, does anyone have one they'd like to sell me?

well, i did mine another way. I plastic welded it back to the mounting bracket.. i have had no problems, and it feels very strong.

That type of plastic welding is easy. If you have a soldering kit you can do it. you just need alittle extra piece of plastic to build up on. like a zip tie...

thats just another allternative.... :thumb:

I was able to re-attach the original switch on mine using tiny (and I mean tiny) scews along with some glue.

Another way to repair the moonroof switch/console using an aftermarket switch from Napa is shown here:

http://www.angelfire.com/home/SH0ckforce/Modifications/MoonRoofSwitch/index.html

Also, here's some guidance on how to remove the console without breaking anything:

1. Insert a thin screwdriver at the outer most edge of each overhead lamp button, push inwards and down, and the outside edge will pop out. Reach in with a finger or two and pop the other side of each button out.

2. Remove the phillips screw visible next to and above each bulb.

3. Pull the entire unit towards the rear of the car. This take a little effort. Keep the unit flush against the roof while doing this.

4. Disconnect the two wire harnesses.

With regard to the meets....when, where....I'm there!

check out the Tri-State SHO/SVT club under the clubs section. If something peaks your interest, in most cases, anyone from the forum is welcome. :) Always a good idea to get in touch with whomever is hosting the function as well.

I know of at least one event later this summer that I shall definately be attending!
