Before it's said, I've searched and came across several dozen topics, one being the infamous "moonfoof switch" thread, as well as a link to modifying a contour window switch to work in our console, but I still have some questions / misunderstandings on how the switch works so please bare with me!
. Now here's alittle history behind the situation:
Just to clarify, my sunroof is presently stuck in the vent/tilt position. From day one, I've always had a problem getting the sunroof to close from the vent/tilt position. Any other action, no problem. I usually have to play with it, to get it to close. Pressing the switch in the same location to get it from close to "wide open" and vice versa is no problem. The problem always remained in closing from the vent/tilt position.
I took it upon myself to remove the switch console, improperly I might add, and here's how it looks (after removal). . .
1:
Here's the button itself. . . . .
2:
Here's what the button goes onto. . . .
3:
I believe this is what houses it? . . . .
4:
5:
Here's the side of the console, where the switch goes into . . . .
6:
Now, I haven't the slightest clue as to how this works, and if there's anyone who could explain in reference to the pictures above, that'd be great! Also, please excuse my lack of terminology. I just can't comprehend what's wrong. The button seems to be "intact", although I did notice inside the button, there is a tab that seems to have broken off.
During my search, there seems to be a way of using a "crank" on the sunroof motor itself, and manually close the sunroof. Where do you put the "crank", or flat edged object on to close it? Pictures to reference from. . .
1:
Here's how it looks with the console off (very distasteful) . . . .
2:
Is there where I want to put the crank, and manually shut the sunroof?. . .
3:
I assume, that these are the gears(?) that motor turns to shut the sunroof. . .
4:
Another shot. . . .
Again, I apologize for such a long post. I just really want my sunroof shut before it rains again, and my understanding of the situation is crude at best. Any help from anyone would greatly be appreciated, thanks!
