SUnroof problems

I whent to replace my sunroof motor, now I see what the real problem was with it.

if any of you know, you have to push the sunroof motor onto a metal gear that is on the body.... thats gotten chewed up slightly on my car and the new motor won't go onto it....... I have a parts car with a good gear on it, is there anyway to change that gear? I kind of looked at it briefly in poor light and it didn't see an obvious way to take it off.........

i can say ive ever had to deal with that.
