Yesterday out of the blue the windows on my 94 won't go down. OK so I think, winters almost here and the sunroof works. Well, all I got was a blip from the sunroof, so now it's cracked and won't close. I checked all the fuses undetr dash and under hood and didn't find anything. So last night I tried, and I got a short burst from the window so that's now down 1/4 inch and won't move. None of the individual door switches work either. Are the sunroof and windows on the same wiring? Any thoughts on what to look at? HELP BEFORE IT RAINS
Thanks

Jim

They are not on the same wiring to my knowledge.

The plastic switch for you moonroof is probably broke. So when you think the switch is turned, actually, its not moving the switch inside..so it dont close. You have to remove the housing by popping out the light lens covers. (They pop out in the center and have tabs on the outter sides holding them in.) Once those are removed, remove the 2 philips screws up inside above the light bulbs. The front will drop down and you can slide the whole housing towards the rear of the car. You will see 2 wiring harnesses...one for power for the light bulbs and one for the moonroof switch. Look at the black box switch for the moonroof and you will see on the sides how the plastic piece connects to the switch and how it breaks. You can use a pair of plyers to move the switch to close the moonroof...just be careful. It often happens to me anyway that one way will still work (typically open) and when you rock it the other way it will not work.

As for windows...tap the door switches or press fairly hard. These terminals tend to gunk up and not work. If it moved 1/4 inch, then its got power/etc...put the key in, turn it on, and tap/press/play with your switches. Besure to be pressing the up as to not put it down any further.

If your switch is busted and your planning on replacing it, there are 4 wires coming from its harness.

Red- Hot
Black - Hot
Red/Yellow - GND
Black/Yellow - GND

This type of switch is hard to find but if you have the wires stripped, you can cross RED with either R/Y and ground B/Y to the motor to close it. Alternatively you can cross RED with B/Y and ground R/Y to the motor to open it. Or vice versa, thats how im actually using my sunroof right now until I can find a replacement switch in the boneyard, so far no luck for me.

Well, thanks for all the tips. It appears there is a short in the sunroof area, that is causing the windows not to work. When I unplug the sunroof swithc they work...plug it in and they don't. Sunroof doesn't work at all.

Apparently there is a relay for the sunroocf behind the glovebox. Does anyone know what is most likey to be the cause...the motor, the switch or the relay? I can probably change out from my other SHO, but rather have an idea of which to do.

Thanks
