I'm about install a replacement viscous coupler in my MKS. Any suggestions for an OBD scanner that can program the coupler relay? I need to input a different barcode number to the system, or am I stuck going to a steelership or good garage?

OBDLink MX+ for Bluettooth and expanded OEM features. OBDLink EX for connected (USB) items such as programming, flashing, etc. ForScan is still available for 2 month demos despite the Russia issues. Not sure all the OBDLink computer program features but, if it is anything like the MX+ features, it is impressive.

I'm cheap, I run this with a lifetime license of Forscan and it does everything we need it to.

I went with the EX because I am to lazy and easily annoyed. I don't want to switch a toggle back and forth for CAN networks lol. I will only use wired like this one for programming or flashing modules though. Simple power loss or connection loss bricking a module because my bluetooth didn't communicate is not even an option I want to think about.

Yep I hardwire whenever possible. I still get antsy with the new HPTuners RTD+ and the TDN network because mine will randomly go into powersave mode and I'm always fearing it's going to brick.

Ta2dResqr, So the EX Forscan cable is better than the ELM327? I'm getting ready to get into Forscan. Kind of new to anything deeper than Torque. I just don't really want buy twice. I get the wired vs bluetooth thing.

ELM327 is a command protocol that allows a PC to communicate with OBD. While there is a product made by ELM Electronics, if you search ELM327 you will be buried in adapters from any number of reputable and crappy producers. The OBDLink EX is built specifically for ForScan. It will allow ForScan to access 100% of the ECUs. It is the device that ForScan recommends. One of my favorite features is the electronic switch for HS-CAN/MS-CAN (and J1850). Some other products have an actual physical switch that you have to manually change in order to see the different networks. People have had issues where they think stuff isn't working right and then remember they are on the wrong network. This also allows it to operate at a faster speed. I have not had to use the warranty on the EX but, when my MX+ started having connection issues, they did some troubleshooting and then sent me a new one when it wasn't easily fixed. They also have a couple proprietary software systems that are included with the purchase. An app for your phone and a software for your computer. There is also a huge list of third party apps that work with their products. Personally, I got the MX+ and the EX. I love both of them and use them all the time.

Used my OBDLink MX+ for the first time yesterday. Very impressed. I downloaded the OBDLink app.

I got a call from my GF that her 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited was acting weird. I happened to be driving and started driving her way as she was headed home from work. She was nervous she wouldn’t make it and wanted me to drive it. “Great, so I can be the one stuck on the side of the road”, I asked?

It was missing at idle and hesitating under acceleration. Seemed like a misfire or perhaps a bad fuel filter? I mentioned it might have a code even though it didn’t have a check engine light yet. We made it back to the house, and I got to see her drive my truck, damn it looks so good with 20x12’s lol! What???? Not everyday you get to see your whip being driven down the road. Looks different than staring at it parked.

Anyway……she asked if I had something to read for codes and I was like for a Ford yeah …..then I was like wait actually I think I do have something. Opened up the OBDLink MX+ and I was excited to see what I could find. Man I am easy to please lol.

Found this pop up B6CB9E23 1FD0 4E24 8503 B63ED9611449
Ok I had about 45 min before O’Reillys closed. They had one ignition coil in stock…..puurrrrrffect and might as well change the spark plug too. NGK of course…..yes I’m going to change them all now but at this time I just wanted one.

Found the firing order online and swapped out cylinder 1 coil and plug. 10 min. Took it for a drive, good to go! I couldn’t have been more proud of myself and so happy I bought that OBDLink MX+. I’ll let you guys wonder how I was rewarded later on.

Now to change them all and new oil change! Wrenching on my car has made me love working on anything.

Did you download the "Enhanced OEM Add-Ons"? My 2015 SHO has 1,277 PID available from the Enhanced section. FCA is crazy. My buddies 2013 Ram seriously had something crazy like 15,000.
