I have a stock 95 SHO 3.2L. Can anyone suggest modifications that I should consider? Any priorities?

Support the tranny first if you have an auto. Hard lines instead of the rubber lines. You'd be surprised how much difference that makes.

I say suspension and brakes. Add a trans cooler and mabe an LPM to make it shift better. After that then start with the power mods if you want.

I think everyone posted the mods that THEY want.

What do you want out of the car? More speed? Better handling?

As always said, you can throw money at it to make 10-15 more hp, or you can put the same money in some suspension and have more fun.

Or as already stated....maintenance. Fix leaks/change fluids, etc.

The car is an automatic, yes?

Y-pipes really don't do anything for the ATX, as the stock ATX Y-Pipe didn't suffer from the 90* bend from the factory that the MTX's did.

If the maintenance is up to par, I'd install bigger brakes, recondition the whole suspension, put in subframe connectors, 17'' wheels with sticky tires and polish it off with some 13'' Cobra brakes.

a gen3 subframe is a very good, inexpensive and worthwhile upgrade. if you are planning on any other upgrades that should be in the 'pre-requisite' category, along with all maintenance, imho.

I would like to focus on making the car sound so that it can handle the power better and give me piece of mind. Getting additonal power after that would be a good focus. Sound lilke the transmission support and cooling would be a great option.

The transmission gives a **** of a kick going into second on rapid acceleration.

I can vouch for this being a great upgrade for handling and feel. Car will feel much more "solid" after.

javve has collected the info on this upgrade in a thread on this forum. A good place to start.

Can you give me any direction on the gen3 subframe upgrade?
You need to get a subframe from a 96-06 Taurus along with the lower control arms, steering knuckles, rotors, calipers, and ABS sensors. Optionally but very highly recommended you can get the steering rack from a 3rd gen (96-99) SHO. The subframe will bolt directly to the body and on the automatics I think the only thing you will have to modify to mount the engine/tranny to the subframe is the hole for the front mount. Your existing struts will mount to the new knuckles.
