i put two 12 in mtx subs in my 91 and a pioneer head unit and for some reason the subs only go as loud as the stock speakers..... i was thinking the stock amp is restrickting the power??? idk why they would do that nebody have an opinion? :thankyou:

you need a aftermarket amp(its the only way that i know of) to get the right power to the subs
also how did you wire them in?

no i have an aftermarket amp its a mtx 1000 watt amp and yes its all wired up to the cd player

check the settings on the headunit itself? Sub may be set low, or change audio settings and see what you get. try tuning the amp if you haven't done that. Hertz, gain, bass boost etc..

Did you use your own wiring kit or wire it off the factory amp?

all the settings are correct i used an actually wireing kit ive messed with the settings on the amp and everything

I would look for more settings on the HU, there are too many on some of the pioneer ones.

And where are you in IL? Maybe I can come take a look at it or something if your pretty close if you can't get it figured out here

well the head unit dont really have shit for settings it a lil bit of an older one and im in the quad cities

The other problem it might be, you said it was an older HU correct?

Since the HU is older it probably only has 1 amp preout and it is probably not for subs. That's my only other guess.
